Tūmatanui recently lost a much respected and loved member of our whānau in the recent passing of Ngarongo Iwikatea Nicholson (Matua Iwi). Iwi made a significant contribution to Tūmatanui and also gifted the name of Tūmatanui to the Cluster.
Iwi was passionate about the work of Tūmatanui and we will miss his guidance, humility, knowledge and leadership as we continue our journey towards delivering a more prosperous outcome for our people. Tūmatanui acknowledge him as a great repository of whakapapa and tribal history, and we commit to building on his legacy of pono and transparency towards achieving robust outcomes for Ngāti Raukawa Whānui. Our thoughts are with Aunty Ngawini and the whānau at this very difficult time. We will never forget your contribution to the betterment and welfare of the people Uncle Iwi.
